We are a team of volunteers who work to help the visually impaired by providing a cassette tape service.
We have about 70 volunteers, some of whom have multiple jobs within our group.
We give our services totally free and we have no paid employees.

ABOUT US

ABOUT OUR TEAMS
All our helpers are listed on to a rota and are expected to work within this as much as possible to avoid causing problems with our work. They are asked to inform the organizer prior to publication of the rota of dates that they cannot attend.

Distribution-- This team, keep records of our recipients on computer, change details as required, and take delivery of returned tapes, and prepare the tapes for recycling. Again, each person is on duty about once a month.

Producers -- We have four producers on a rota who, in turn, sit in our small recording booth each Friday night and record from our microphones via a mixer board direct on to a computer. This takes about two hours. The computer files are then transferred to another computer which controls our cassette duplicating machines.

Library Team -- We have about 10 volunteers who go to the studio to collect returns, keep records, and send out renewal tape books as required. This is done, again on a rota.

Copying -- we have a small team who attend, each Saturday morning on rota, to copy the required tapes and dispatch these to the post.

Readers -- We have a team of lady and gentlemen readers three of each are needed each week to read for the news tape. Each reader attends about once a month.

Presenters - Our presenters attend, for the recordings, again on rota to present our readers and give out announcements as required.

Editors- This is one of our very important jobs in which our editors spend much time on a Friday, collecting information from the newspapers, to enable these passages to be read out on tape.
